Volunteers are hugely important to the day to day success of the Trust.
Hospital volunteers provide a valuable service, giving patients a link with
the outside world and providing facilities which complement those provided by hospital staff.
The work is varied, interesting and extremely rewarding. We welcome enquiries
from anyone who is prepared to give their time on a regular basis - three hours per week,
for six months, for example.
Anyone over 16 years can apply to become a hospital volunteer.
Whether you are young, middle-aged or older, have a disability or are retired.
We welcome people from every ethnic background, race, lifestyle and religion.
We’d love to hear from you.
These are just some of the ways volunteers can help us deliver an improved service:
Hostess / reception service in Outpatients, Antenatal Clinic,
Child Development unit and Radiography
Recreational activities, particularly with the children and the elderly
General duties on wards (non-nursing)
Just “being there” when a patient needs a sympathetic companion
Information service
Guiding patients throughout the hospital
Retail volunteers shop, café and ward trolley opportunities available.
Mealtime Helpers Required
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Age Concern/Age UK are working in partnership to improve mealtime experiences for our patients.
If you are able to help between 11.30 and 1.30 or 4.30 and 6.30 and are willing to attend a short training session,
Please contact Sally Cassini on 419 5400
What will we do?
We take character references; carry out a CRB check and a health screening interview.
The Trust accepts responsibility for the activities of all volunteers who are on
duty and undertaking agreed work. All voluntary workers receive smart uniforms,
travel expenses and moral support!
