Simulated Interactive Mannequin

The Simulated Interactive Mannequin Suite (SIM Suite) is an area where realistic adult & paediatric clinical multidisciplinary scenarios can be enacted, using the most advanced interactive manikins. The manikins allow for real time feedback to clinical interventions and the whole scenario is videotaped to facilitate detailed analysis and discussion.

The suite provides the ideal environment in which to participate in a broad spectrum of clinical situations ranging from the routine management of conditions such as asthma and myocardial infarction to emergencies such as life threatening asthma, anaphylaxis or failed intubations. Scenarios can be designed to allow real critical incidents to be re-visited and constructively analysed.

SIM suite sessions are coordinated through Divisional SIM Trainers and are therefore the first point of contact. A list of SIM Trainers is available on the Training and Development website.

The training department are happy to offer help and advice regarding use of the SIM suite, particularly, if there is currently no SIM trainer for your Division. We can arrange training for trainers and provide support in the development running of SIM sessions. Contact details are given below.

Throughout the year the department will also provide several generic sessions open to all trained clinical staff and medical students, see following page for dates. These can be booked by either completing a training application form or contacting the Education Department administration team.
