The DCU has two operating theatres, one with laminar air flow for orthopaedic surgery, two anaesthetic rooms and a first and second stage recovery area. The second stage area has 18 trolley spaces and a number of reclining chairs.

The Unit is underpinned by well qualified nursing, reception and clerical staff. The patient journey through day surgery incorporates the initial stage and day of operation.
